Located near the existing Ford facility in Silverton, the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (TASEZ) is a strategic initiative aimed at boosting South Africa’s automotive sector. Zutari was appointed by the Coega Development Corporation to provide design and supervision for the enabling infrastructure of the project’s initial phases.

The opportunity

TASEZ represents the largest development currently underway in Tshwane, with a construction value of approximately R2.8 billion. The zone offers tax incentives and investment opportunities for automotive suppliers, positioning itself as a key contributor to vehicle production and exports. The project is a vital injection of foreign direct investment and a catalyst for job creation and industrial growth in the region.

What we did

Zutari’s multi-disciplinary team delivered:

  • Civil Engineering Services: Internal infrastructure design and supervision.

  • Bulk Infrastructure Upgrades: Including a new 15 Ml reservoir, water supply pipeline, and upgrades to the existing outfall sewer.

  • Transport Infrastructure: Road and intersection improvements to support increased traffic and logistics.

  • Conceptual Design Input: Civil and structural design for identified supplier sites within the zone.

TASEZ is a transformative development near Ford’s Silverton plant, designed to attract investment and stimulate industrial growth in Tshwane.

The development is set to facilitate the export of locally manufactured products, attract significant investment, and create essential employment opportunities.
